The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, held a meeting with the first fighters for the liberation of Kosovo, who were trained in 1991 at the Surrel Military Unit by instructors of the former United Officers’ School.
In a Facebook post, Begaj emphasized the historic importance of this event, describing it as the beginning of Kosovo’s liberation journey and the foundation of the first nucleus of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK).

“With the first fighters for the liberation of Kosovo, who were trained in 1991 at the Surrel Military Unit by instructors of the former United Officers’ School. This event must be valued with its full historic weight, as it was there that the great flame for the liberation of Kosovo was lit — the first nucleus of the UÇK. Eternal honor to all those who sacrifice for the Albanian nation.”
