The Democratic Party (PD) deputies boycotted the vote for the election of the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament.

PD parliamentary leader Bardhi stated before the vote that the current majority lacks legitimacy and criticized Niko Peleshi, describing him as an ally of Klodian Zoto, according to A2 CNN.

“This majority does not have the legitimacy to elect the Speaker of Parliament. This is like appointing Klodian Zoto. With this nomination, you are showing us that your philosophy is crime, theft, corruption. We will not participate in the vote,” Bardhi said.

64 deputies had signed the nomination for Niko Peleshi as Speaker of the Parliament.
