  • First-degree murder
  • Illegal use of a firearm causing serious injury
  • Obstruction of justice

Robinson reportedly confessed to a family member, who then alerted authorities and ensured he did not flee.

Investigation Details

  • Authorities discovered a Mauser Model 98 repeating rifle with an optical scope, wrapped in a dark towel, in a wooded area near the University of Utah Valley.
  • Shell casings recovered from the rifle had engraved messages, including:
    • “notices, bulges, OWO, what’s this?”
    • “Hey fascists! Catch!”
    • “Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao.”
    • “If you read this, you are gay LMAO.”
  • Investigators also reviewed Discord messages indicating Robinson had customized the ammunition and weapon.

Official Statements

  • Robinson was not a student at the University of Utah Valley, where Kirk was shot, and has lived with his family in Washington County, Utah.

Context

  • Governor Cox referenced Kirk’s own words about dialogue preventing violence and stressed the need to focus on the individual responsible for pulling the trigger.
  • The investigation continues, and official charges are pending, with documents not yet publicly available.
