Serbian Minister for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Đurić, stated that Serbia has been working for years to shift the position of parts of the international community regarding Kosovo. According to him, Serbia “has prepared further surprises”, linking this to its ongoing campaign to reverse Kosovo’s recognition.
“We have not neglected the aspect of international recognition,” Đurić said in an interview with Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV Vojvodina).
He also commented on the U.S. administration’s decision to suspend the strategic dialogue with Kosovo, arguing that it shows even Kosovo’s partners do not support the decisions of Prime Minister Albin Kurti toward Serbs in Kosovo.
Đurić claimed that several countries that strongly support Kosovo’s independence are now voicing clear opposition to Prishtina’s current policies, not just online but in official statements. He described the U.S. suspension of dialogue as a significant decision with direct political impacts in Kosovo, ahead of local elections, framing it as a message to the Kosovo population regarding the “policy of removing the Serbian presence”.
He reiterated the disputed claim that 28 states have withdrawn recognition of Kosovo over the past 12 years and criticized the Ohrid Agreement clause, which obliges Serbia not to block Kosovo’s membership in international organizations, calling it “unacceptable”.
“For Serbia, acceptance of Prishtina into the United Nations is absolutely unacceptable. President Aleksandar Vučić has said this several times, and I officially reiterate it today,” Đurić emphasized.
