Acting Minister of Defense Ejup Maqedonci met today with General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey.
The meeting focused on bilateral defense and security relations between Kosovo and Turkey, as well as the current security developments in the Balkans.
Maqedonci wrote on Facebook that he highly values Turkey’s continuous support, emphasizing that this strategic partnership is the result of sustained cooperation between the two ministries and armed forces, as well as the strong cultural and economic ties between the two nations.
Both Maqedonci and General Bayraktaroğlu underlined the importance of advancing cooperation in key areas, including training and professional development of Kosovo Security Force (KSF) members, strengthening defense capabilities, and expanding the defense industry through collaboration with Turkey’s state-owned company MKE and other relevant enterprises.
General Bayraktaroğlu reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to continue supporting Kosovo on its path toward Euro-Atlantic integration.
Both sides agreed that Kosovo deserves its place in NATO and that the ongoing transformation of the KSF is guiding the country toward becoming a reliable and contributing ally in regional and global security.
