The Kosovo Police and Prosecution held an official coordination meeting today at the General Directorate of Police, focusing on operational plans and security measures for the October 12 local elections.

The meeting was attended by Acting Chief State Prosecutor Besim Kelmendi, National Election Coordinator Laura Pula, General Police Director Gazmend Hoxha, senior management from various departments, as well as representatives from KQZ, KFOR, EULEX, OSCE, and the EU Office in Kosovo.

According to police reports, participants reviewed detailed plans, assessments, and joint actions designed to ensure security, order, and a smooth electoral process. The discussion emphasized close institutional coordination based on existing legal frameworks and cooperation agreements.

“Part of the discussion focused on creating a calm and safe environment to ensure every citizen’s right to vote freely,” the statement reads. “Any criminal act against voting rights will be prosecuted, and all necessary procedural and legal measures will be taken against anyone who violates the laws governing free and democratic elections.”

On election day, around 100 prosecutors and Prosecution Office officials will remain on duty across the country until the conclusion of the electoral process, ensuring lawful and transparent conduct of the elections.
