The Central Election Commission (CEC) has reversed its earlier decision not to accredit several media outlets — including the online newspaper Reporteri.net — for coverage of the October 12 Local Elections 2025.

At its 66th meeting, chaired by Kreshnik Radoniqi, the CEC approved the accreditation of 28 domestic and international media organizations to observe the elections for municipal mayors and assemblies. The decision was adopted through a circular procedure.

This move follows strong reactions from media associations and civil society organizations, which had criticized the earlier CEC decision as a violation of press freedom and electoral transparency.

According to the CEC statement, the Office for Registration, Certification, and Financial Control of Political Entities reviewed the submitted documentation and consulted the Independent Media Commission and the Press Council of Kosovo before recommending the list of approved outlets.
