U.S. President Donald Trump has arrived in Egypt, where he is attending a summit on the future of Gaza, after first visiting Israel to celebrate the signing of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas.
According to The Guardian, Trump on Monday praised Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for his crucial role in brokering the deal.
“He played a very important role. I greatly appreciate that,” said the U.S. president, describing Sisi as a strong leader who keeps crime low in his country.
On the same day, Sisi also met with French President Emmanuel Macron, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Emir of Qatar, and other leaders to coordinate efforts on implementing the ceasefire and rebuilding Gaza, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidential office.
