Acting Minister of Defense Ejup Maqedonci emphasized that cybersecurity must be viewed as a strategic investment rather than a simple expenditure, highlighting its crucial role in ensuring both national and international security.
Speaking at the panel discussion titled “The Financial Impact of Cybersecurity,” Maqedonci warned that cyberattacks, as part of hybrid warfare, pose serious threats to national and global stability.
He stressed that protecting critical infrastructure and safeguarding data are essential foundations for economic development and societal resilience.
“Cybersecurity should not be treated merely as a cost, but as a strategic investment in the future — one that ensures the protection of critical infrastructure, the security of data, the functioning of institutions, and the public’s trust in our digital systems,” Maqedonci said.
“Every euro invested in cybersecurity is an investment in stability, economic growth, and national security,” he added.
The minister also underlined that the Government of Kosovo, in cooperation with the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), has taken concrete steps to strengthen defensive capacities, including the establishment of a Cybersecurity Training Center and the formation of a Cyber Unit within the KSF.
Maqedonci concluded that cybersecurity remains a national priority, essential for guaranteeing a safe and resilient future for Kosovo’s citizens.
