The Kosovo Police have released additional information regarding the shooting of a 22-year-old Kosovo Security Force (FSK) soldier that occurred on Sunday in the village of Sharban, Prishtina. A fellow soldier is currently the main suspect in the incident.
According to the police statement, the shooting took place inside a vehicle, where the suspect’s firearm discharged accidentally, causing injuries to the victim.
“The victim, a male Kosovar, is currently being treated at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK) after sustaining bodily injuries. It is suspected that while inside a vehicle with the suspect, the suspect’s firearm was discharged accidentally,” the police report stated.
As material evidence, authorities confiscated the firearm used in the incident, along with 15 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was interviewed and later released pending further investigation, based on the prosecutor’s decision.
The injured soldier is reported to be out of life-threatening danger and continues to receive medical care at QKUK.
