Prishtina, 25 November 2025 — Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti hosted a Thanksgiving lunch for US Charge d’Affaires in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, and her staff, marking the occasion of Thanksgiving Day. The event reflects Kosovo’s ongoing commitment to deepening ties with the United States.
According to the government statement, Kosovo-US relations are built on shared values, mutual appreciation, and respect, with several decisions taken this year aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.
“This year, to enhance our bilateral relations, we implemented 0% tariffs on American goods, agreed on temporary shelter arrangements for third-country nationals, and carried out significant procurements in the defense sector,” the statement noted.
The lunch, now in its second consecutive year, is intended by the government to become a long-standing tradition celebrating the close partnership between the two countries.
The event also highlighted the cultural aspect of the holiday, featuring traditional Thanksgiving dishes. Thanksgiving has been celebrated in the United States for nearly 400 years and was declared a national annual holiday by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863.
“The occasion offers a meaningful opportunity to express gratitude for the enduring relations we share with the United States, which continue to grow and strengthen,” the government statement added.
