Parts of Thailand are facing record-breaking floods, which have claimed at least 18 lives and forced authorities to deploy military boats and helicopters to support relief operations.

The floods have affected ten provinces in the southern part of the country over the past week, while the city of Hat Yai – a major business hub near the Malaysian border – recorded the highest rainfall in 300 years: 335 mm in a single day.

Continuous rainfall has also heavily impacted neighboring countries. In Vietnam, the death toll has risen to 98 within just one week, while in Malaysia, over 19,000 residents have been forced to evacuate their homes due to worsening conditions.
