Kosovo is marking the 10th edition of the “Italian Cuisine Week Worldwide”, held from 24–30 November, under the theme “Italian Cuisine: Between Health, Culture, and Innovation”, KosovaPress reports.
The annual event is organized by the Embassy of Italy in Prishtina in cooperation with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) in Tirana, which is also responsible for Kosovo. Its goal is to highlight the many ways Italian cuisine can be approached—as a mosaic of knowledge and values—and to emphasize its role as a model of healthy, balanced, and sustainable nutrition, as well as its tradition of innovation and research.
This year’s special guest is Emin Haziri, the executive chef of a restaurant in Milan who was recently awarded his first Michelin star. Haziri, who arrived in Italy at age seven after fleeing Kosovo on foot with his family during the war, has become a symbol of the deep ties between Italy and Kosovo.
For the gala dinner organized by the Italian Embassy in Prishtina, Chef Haziri prepared an exclusive menu for SCIM25, attended by acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Prishtina Mayor Përparim Rama, and Italy’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Maurizio Antonini.
During the evening, guests had the opportunity to taste selected Italian wines professionally paired with each course by the Italian Sommelier Association – Club Albania, with the support of ICE Tirana.
As part of Italian Cuisine Week, Prishtina also hosted the event “Taste the Future: HoReCa & Slow Food Connections”, aimed at training young people and creating employment opportunities in tourism and hospitality.
The week-long celebration will conclude on 28 November with a public show-cooking event at Albi Mall.
