Around 100 prosecutors and prosecutorial staff have been working—and continue to work—to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process, stated the Office of the State Prosecutor following the conclusion of voting.
During the day, the State Prosecutor reported receiving several pieces of information. After verification and processing, only five cases were found to contain elements of criminal offenses against voting rights by the close of voting.
- Case 1 – Ranillug (Gjilan): Alleged violation under Article 210 of the Kosovo Penal Code, “Interference with Free Determination of Voters.” The suspect was released under standard procedure by the prosecutor.
- Case 2 – Zhegër (Gjilan): Alleged offenses under Articles 214 and 215, “Obstruction of the Voting Process” and “Violation of Voting Secrecy.” The suspect was released under standard procedure.
- Case 3 – Prizren: Alleged violation under Article 217, “Destruction of Voting Documents.” The suspect was released under standard procedure.
- Case 4 – Drenas: Alleged violation under Article 215, “Violation of Voting Secrecy.” The suspect was released under standard procedure.
- Case 5 – Suharekë: Alleged violation under Article 215, “Violation of Voting Secrecy.” The suspect was released under standard procedure.
“The State Prosecutors will continue oversight during the counting of votes at polling stations until they are delivered to municipal counting centers. The Office of the Chief State Prosecutor thanks the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, the media, and civil society for their cooperation with the State Prosecutor, aimed at preventing and successfully prosecuting criminal offenses related to these elections,” the statement concluded.
