German Ambassador Rainer Rudolph paid tribute to the victims of the Reçak massacre, emphasizing that the day should serve as a reminder of the importance of building a peaceful future.

The German Embassy stated that during today’s official commemorative ceremony, Ambassador Rudolph honored the 45 civilians killed on January 15, 1999, in Reçak.

William Walker, the former U.S. ambassador who participated in the ceremony, led the OSCE Kosovo Verification Mission, which publicly exposed the massacre immediately after it occurred.

“Let this day serve as a reminder of the importance of building a peaceful future, where such atrocities are never repeated,” the embassy added.
