The Kosovo Special Prosecution has filed an indictment against 21 individuals for the Reçak Massacre, in which 45 Albanian civilians were killed on January 15, 1999, for the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population.

The indictment includes members of the former Yugoslav Army, the “243 Mechanized Brigade”, the III Corps of the Prishtina Army, as well as personnel from the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On the 27th anniversary of the massacre, Special Prosecutor Ilir Morina, head of the War Crimes Department at the Kosovo Special Prosecution (PSRK), spoke on Debat Plus about the extraordinary difficulties encountered during this investigation.

“It has been difficult. It continues to be difficult. It is a challenge that follows us every day, in every case we work on. But this does not mean we should stop; we must work with the resources we have, with the capacities available to us,” Morina stated.
