Former head of the OVL-UÇK, Nasim Haradinaj, visited former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi and ex-Speaker of Parliament Kadri Veseli in The Hague, where they have been held in pre-trial detention for over five years.
Haradinaj said he found them in good spiritual and mental condition, despite the long time since they were last seen.
He added that Thaçi and Veseli are optimistic that justice will ultimately prevail and that a verdict of acquittal will be reached, Rks News reports.
“Even though it had been a long time since I last saw them, I found them very motivated, very relaxed, and with a healthy mental outlook. They have taken the matter calmly and understand that they must respond to the so-called justice system, but they are optimistic that in the end there will be justice and an acquittal,” Haradinaj stated.
He also mentioned that during the visit he performed a symbolic gesture, emphasizing that it was something “so they in prison would not forget it.”
However, Haradinaj stressed that the visit to the Hague detention center was strictly supervised, describing it as very “controlled.”
