The nationwide event “Flaka e Janarit”, held under the patronage of Gjilan Mayor Alban Hyseni and organized by the Directorate for Culture, Youth, and Sports, continued its activities with the traditional commemorative march honoring those who fell for freedom.

The march was organized by the Alpine Mountaineering Society “Gjilani” from Gjilan and the Alpine Club “Dardanët” from Kamenicë, with support from other mountaineering and alpine clubs across Albanian territories. Dozens of citizens and representatives of these societies participated, emphasizing the preservation of national memory and recognition of the sacrifices of the country’s heroes.

The activity began with a group photo at the statues of Rexhep Mala and Nuhi Berisha in Gjilan and continued towards Kamenicë, merging with other groups. The route included the Sfircë Gate, the Tower of Nuhi Berisha, the Tower of Rexhep Mala in Hogosht, and the Tower of Kadri Zeka in Poliçkë, symbolizing a journey through historical sites of national significance.

Organizers stressed that the march aims to educate younger generations about heritage, history, and national culture, calling it a commemorative walk “from which freedom springs.” The Flaka e Janarit program will continue on January 24 with the Literary Roundtable “Pena e Flakës” at 12:00, followed by the Festival of Original Albanian Drama “Talia e Flakës” at the Gjilan City Theater.
