The Basic Court in Pristina will hold the initial hearing today in the case against Cvetko Kostiq.
He is accused of committing sexual violence during the war in Kosovo, specifically in the Vushtrri region in March 1998.
According to the indictment, the victim was unable to leave her elderly grandmother and therefore remained with her in their home. During this time, three armed Serbian police officers in uniform entered the house, among them the defendant, Cvetko Kostiq. He allegedly ordered the victim, identified as F1, to enter the house, after which two other uniformed members of the Serbian forces followed. They reportedly forced the victim into another room, while her grandmother was ordered to remain where she was.
The indictment details that the acts occurred while Serbian police forces were operating in the area.
The court session is scheduled to begin at 09:30.
