Hazir Haziri, an Albanian citizen who was imprisoned in Serbia in September of last year, has been released.
This was confirmed by his lawyer, Arianit Koci, through a Facebook post.
Post by Arianit Koci:
Hazir Haziri has just been released by the authorities of Serbia, after being held in pre-trial detention since September 8, 2025, when he was arrested at the Merdarë border crossing.
His release confirms that the arrest was unfounded and based on claims without factual support.
The case highlights the necessity for Kosovar citizens to have immediate legal support whenever they face unjust detentions abroad.
As a lawyer, I will continue to work to ensure that no citizen of the Republic of Kosovo remains unprotected in Serbian prisons, regardless of circumstances or baseless accusations.
This is both a professional and human responsibility.
Mr. Haziri’s health is reported to be good.
