The Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Prizren, Petrit Kryeziu, is set to hold a press conference today regarding an ongoing operation into alleged election result falsification in Prizren, which has already led to several arrests. Among those detained is the son of PDK candidate Nait Hasani, according to Reporteri.net.
The press conference will take place at 15:00 at the Prosecution building in Prizren.
In an official statement, the Basic Prosecution of Prizren said:
“The Chief Prosecutor Petrit Kryeziu, together with the Kosovo Police, will hold a press conference regarding the Prosecution’s action in Prizren on election result falsification during the vote counting within political parties for parliamentary candidates in the Prizren municipality.”
The operation was confirmed by the Prosecution to Reporteri.net, with spokesperson Luljeta Mehmeti stating:
“Yes, we can confirm that an action regarding suspected vote manipulation is underway. No further details can be provided at this time as the case is under investigation.”
Days earlier, Kryeziu authorized the Kosovo Police to independently identify responsible individuals and secure relevant evidence, including official records and signatures. The Prosecution had also monitored the vote recount process externally and reported irregularities during counting within political parties.
According to the Prosecution, after the recount, discrepancies were observed in several polling stations between ballots cast and votes counted for candidates, raising serious suspicions of vote manipulation.
The Prosecution emphasized that vote manipulation and falsification of election documents are criminal offenses and will be addressed without compromise.
Approximately 140 commissioners were involved in the vote counting process in Prizren.
