Russia has launched a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv early this morning, striking several buildings across the city, according to local authorities.
Massive Attack Targets Ukrainian Capital
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that a large-scale assault on the capital was ongoing, stating that buildings on both sides of the Dnieper River were hit during the attack.
“A massive attack on the capital is still underway,” Klitschko announced on Telegram.
Emergency medical teams were immediately deployed to affected areas, although there were no immediate reports of casualties.
Strikes Reported in Eastern Kyiv
Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, confirmed that at least one strike was recorded in the city’s eastern suburbs. Witnesses told Reuters that powerful explosions were heard echoing throughout the city, raising concerns over the scale of the bombardment.
Dnipro Also Targeted
The southeastern city of Dnipro was also hit during the overnight assault, according to regional governor Oleksandr Ganja. He stated that several private homes and vehicles were damaged, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.
Air Raid Alerts Remain Active
Authorities confirmed that air raid sirens remained active in both Kyiv and Dnipro long after midnight, indicating the continued threat of further strikes.
The latest attack highlights the ongoing escalation of the Russia-Ukraine war, which continues to cause widespread destruction and maintain high security risks across multiple Ukrainian regions.
