After more than a year of political deadlock, European Union Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas has welcomed the formation of Kosovo’s new government, calling it an encouraging development for the region.

In a post on social media platform X, Kallas extended her congratulations to Prime Minister Albin Kurti and emphasized that the new government presents an opportunity to advance EU-Kosovo relations and the Belgrade-Prishtina dialogue.

“This is a new moment to push forward EU-Kosovo relations and the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. I am ready to organize a high-level meeting soon,” Kallas wrote, signaling the possibility of a summit between Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in the near future.

She further stressed the importance of rapid reforms, stating:

“The priority now is to move quickly with reforms. This is the fastest way to unlock EU support worth hundreds of millions of euros and to advance Kosovo’s path towards EU integration.”

Kallas’ remarks highlight the EU’s readiness to engage directly with Kosovo and Serbia, encouraging political stability and reform implementation as a key to accelerating EU accession support.
