Albania has officially joined the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), the alliance’s leading cyber defence hub based in Tallinn, Estonia.
The accession was formalised during a flag-raising ceremony at the CCDCOE headquarters, alongside Finland and Sweden, bringing the total number of member and partner states to 39.
The move is seen as an important step in strengthening Albania’s cyber security capabilities and deepening cooperation with NATO allies in addressing growing digital threats.
Through this membership, Albania will gain access to expert knowledge exchange, international training exercises, and participation in strategic research and analysis in the field of cyber defence.
The CCDCOE, established in 2008 and accredited by NATO, is one of the world’s most prominent cyber defence institutions. It is best known for hosting “Locked Shields,” the largest and most complex international cyber defence exercise.
This development further enhances Albania’s role in the global cyber security ecosystem and its integration within NATO security structures.
