The Commander of KFOR, Major General Enrico Barduani, held a briefing today before the NATO Military Committee at the Alliance’s headquarters in Brussels, where he presented the security situation in Kosovo and the latest developments in the KFOR mission, reports Rks News.
During his presentation, General Barduani highlighted the achievements over the last six months since he assumed command of KFOR in October 2024.
He emphasized the importance of “a proactive operational approach to ensure that KFOR continues to meet current challenges and is prepared for those that may arise in the future.”
In his assessment of the current state of affairs, he pointed out that “the security situation remains fragile due to several factors, including ongoing tensions in the region and the insufficient engagement from both Belgrade and Pristina in normalizing their relations.”
In this context, he reiterated “KFOR’s full support for the EU-facilitated dialogue as a framework to reach a sustainable solution that would benefit all communities.”
General Barduani also reaffirmed “KFOR’s unwavering commitment to a safe and stable environment for all citizens and communities in Kosovo, as well as to guaranteeing freedom of movement, in line with the United Nations’ long-standing mandate.”
The Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, highly praised Barduani’s presentation, expressing appreciation for his leadership.
“He commended his leadership and KFOR’s consistent achievements,” and stressed that “KFOR’s work remains essential for the long-term consolidation of security in Kosovo and the preservation of regional stability.”
