Following the Basic Court of Prishtina’s decision to hand down a 30-day detention sentence to seven Kosovo Serb individuals, the Serbian government has issued a scathing, high-level diplomatic retaliation.

Petar Petković, the Director of Belgrade’s Office for Kosovo declared that the arrests and subsequent remands of the seven public officials were executed under a “direct political order” issued by acting Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

Furthermore, Belgrade leveled heavy political fire against Nenad Rašić, Kosovo’s Minister for Communities and Returns, accusing him of actively cooperating with Prishtina to orchestrate the judicial sweep against his own ethnic community.

Belgrade Identifies the Detained “Directors”

While the Prishtina judiciary initially processed the co-defendants using only their initials, Petković’s office unsealed and published the full identities of the seven individuals.

Significantly, Belgrade revealed that the detainees are not merely private citizens, but high-ranking directors heading Serbian-financed health and educational institutions operating within Kosovo:

   [THE DETAINED INSTITUTIONAL LEADERS]
   • Bratislav Lazić • Mirjana Dimitrijević • Saša Mladenović
   • Boban Petrović • Ljubiša Karadžić • Milica Dimić
   • Nebojša Rašić

Operational Status: Directors of Belgrade-funded healthcare & education networks.
Legal Standing: Remanded to 1 month of high-security pre-trial detention.

The Three Strategic Goals of the Raid

In a public broadcast from Belgrade, Petković outlined what Serbia views as a calculated, tri-fold institutional assault designed to cripple the political sovereignty of the local Serb community ahead of the June 7 extraordinary parliamentary elections.

“This brutal political detention has three clear goals,” Petković stated. “First, to deliver an additional crushing blow to Serbian health and education systems in Kosovo. Second, to aggressively weaken Lista Serba. And third, to systematically intimidate the Serbian population just as the official election campaign kicks off.”

The Rašić Whistleblower Catalyst

The geopolitical spat traces directly back to an explosive interview given by Nenad Rašić to KosovaPress on Monday. Rašić, who leads an opposing moderate political faction, blew the whistle on what he described as widespread systemic coercion. He alleged that directors loyal to Lista Serba and Belgrade were actively threatening, blackmailing, and firing public sector workers who refused to support the dominant faction.

Following his interview, state prosecutors launched an emergency investigation, resulting in the arrests under Article 210 for “Violation of the Free Determination of Voters.”

Petković vehemently dismissed Rašić’s role, predicting severe political fallout for the minister.

“Kurti completely miscalculated. The Serbian people are always at their most unified and powerful precisely when they are pushed into a corner,” Petković warned. “In these upcoming elections, the Serbs will respond by backing Lista Serba even more decisively, while Nenad Rašić will find himself thrown straight into the garbage disposal of political history.”

With the 30-day clock running down, defense lawyers are preparing an emergency appeal to challenge the flight-risk designation, which the Prishtina court justified based on the defendants holding dual Serbian citizenship.
