The new Chief Prosecutor of the State, Zejnulla Gashi, officially assumed his new position from the acting Chief Prosecutor of the State, Agron Qalaj, pledging that he will be “the Chief Prosecutor of everyone.”
Gashi made a brief statement to journalists but refused to answer their questions.
“Thank you to my colleagues for the trust they have given me. I will be the Chief Prosecutor for everyone, and together with all of them, we will work on strengthening the rule of law,” he said.
Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, appointed Gashi yesterday through a decree, outlining the role and responsibilities he should undertake.
“The fight against organized crime, corruption, the prosecution of war criminals, perpetrators of sexual violence, and crime of any form must receive a clear response from the prosecution body,” Haxhiu wrote yesterday. /
