Daut Haradinaj has reacted to the verdict of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, which handed down a combined 81-year prison sentence to four former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders.
In a statement published on Facebook, Haradinaj called on Kosovo and its institutions to take immediate action over what he described as the political court’s treatment of those who fought for Kosovo’s freedom.
“The battle for justice will continue until full justice is achieved, until they are cleared of every charge.
The KLA is clean. The KLA’s war was a war of liberation, and no court can condemn the spirit of liberation.
Kosovo and its institutions must take immediate action over the way this political court has treated those who fought for Kosovo’s freedom. Silence is no longer acceptable. Kosovo’s institutions must respond and take all necessary steps in defense of justice and the dignity of KLA fighters.
Until the end. Until justice.
We stand together with those four men there, with every KLA soldier,” Haradinaj said.
