The Deputy Director of Police in the North, Veton Elshani, addressed the confiscation of weapons in Zvečan yesterday.

Elshani stated that they cannot yet disclose the identity of the individual connected to the discovered weapons, as the person is of interest to the police in connection with the Banjska attack.

“We believe these weapons are linked to this person,” he said, without elaborating on whether the weapons were found on the suspect’s property or in areas where the suspect operated.

He provided details about the operation and the discovery of the weapons.

“We received precise information about their location and found them buried underground,” Elshani said, adding that the police initially uncovered the first barrel, which contained uniforms, Kalashnikov rifles, and ammunition.

He further explained that after this discovery, the special police demining unit was called to the scene. “They arrived with their equipment and found two more buried barrels and a plastic pipe containing a Kalashnikov rifle,” he noted.

“All these items have been confiscated and brought to the police station,” Elshani added.

He emphasized that this is not the first time the police have uncovered buried weapons in the north and reiterated that the police act whenever they receive such information.

Elshani also noted that the security situation in the northern region remains calm, emphasizing that there are no areas where the Kosovo Police will not intervene.
