Enver Duriqi, whose four children, wife, and parents were killed in the 1999 massacre of the Duriqi, Bogujevci, and Llugaliu families in Podujevë, has passed away.

The news of Duriqi’s death was announced by the Humanitarian Law Center in Kosovo, who referred to him as a voice for truth and justice.

On March 28, 1999, during the massacre, Duriqi lost his children, aged 3, 5, 8, and 10. After the war, he started a new life and had four more children, whom he named after the ones he lost.

“With deep sorrow and respect, we bid farewell to Enver Duriqi, a man who, despite the immense tragedy he endured, never ceased fighting for justice and truth. During the war, he lost everything—his four children, wife, and both parents, all brutally murdered. Yet, this loss did not break his spirit. On the contrary, it made him even more determined to seek justice for the victims and ensure their voices were never silenced,” stated the FDH announcement.

The FDH also described Duriqi not only as a witness to the painful past but as an unwavering symbol of resilience and justice.

In the massacre of the three families in Podujevë, 16 people were killed.
