Powerful political and security circles from Belgrade were behind the so-called “S.Č. affair” with the aim of destabilizing Montenegro and compromising Kosovo ahead of important political processes in the region, former Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović has said.

In an interview with E Television, Đukanović stressed that the operations were orchestrated by Serbian military security and counterintelligence structures linked to the political era of Slobodan Milošević and the cabinet of former Yugoslav President Vojislav Koštunica.

According to him, these circles believed that destabilizing Kosovo would slow down or prevent its international recognition.

He added that one of the primary objectives of those structures was also to damage the image of NATO’s mission, KFOR.

“The goal was to compromise KFOR in Kosovo and its military command. For this purpose, 27 young women were allegedly being prepared to approach senior KFOR military officials. Among them was also S.Č.,” Đukanović stated, as reported by RKS News.

According to him, Montenegrin authorities had obtained information that the women were being trained at the stadium facilities of the Obilić football club in Belgrade.

“Fortunately, KFOR and UNMIK managed to receive the information in time and prevent that activity,” he said.

Đukanović further claimed that the “S.Č. affair” was part of a broader political and security strategy against Montenegro’s independence and against Euro-Atlantic integration processes in the region.
