Two new polls published in France place Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally (RN) party, as the leading candidate to win the 2027 presidential election, despite her appeal conviction over the misuse of European Union funds.

The polls, conducted by Ifop for LCI and Le Figaro, as well as by Toluna Harris Interactive for M6 and RTL, show that Le Pen would lead the first round of voting and would also win the runoff scheduled for May 2, 2027.

However, the polling organizations emphasized that the results reflect only the current views of voters and do not represent a prediction of the final outcome, as the political landscape could change significantly before the first round of elections on April 18, 2027.

Le Pen Strengthens Her Lead

The Ifop poll places Marine Le Pen at 36% support in the first round, an increase compared with the 32–34% she had recorded in previous months. Meanwhile, none of her rivals manages to surpass the 19% mark.

The second poll presents a similar picture, ranking Le Pen in first place with a significant advantage over other candidates.

The surveys were conducted after the Court of Appeal upheld Le Pen’s conviction for misusing European funds, while at the same time reducing the duration of her ban from running for office. Following the ruling, the 57-year-old National Rally leader confirmed that she would compete in the 2027 presidential election.

Who Could Challenge Her?

According to the polls, Marine Le Pen would also win the second round of the election, regardless of her opponent.

The strongest challenge against her would come from former French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, who is viewed as her most competitive potential rival in a runoff. Meanwhile, Le Pen is projected to secure an even larger advantage if she faces former Prime Minister Gabriel Attal or left-wing leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

If this trend continues in the coming months, Marine Le Pen would enter the presidential race as the leading favorite to take over the leadership of France after the end of President Emmanuel Macron’s term.
