Albulena Haxhiu, a deputy from the Vetëvendosje Movement, commented after failing to be elected as the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, stating that the country should go to elections if there is no political will to form the Assembly.

She emphasized the importance of establishing the Assembly and mentioned that Vetëvendosje has already made its position clear. Haxhiu pointed out that there seems to be a lack of political will to form the Assembly, saying, “We are ready to meet with political parties to discuss the election date. If they refuse to form the Assembly, then it is clear that the country must go to elections.”

She also stressed that it is important for opposition parties to reflect, as the constitution grants only Vetëvendosje, as the winning party, the right to propose the Speaker of the Assembly. Haxhiu pointed out that if the opposition rejects Vetëvendosje’s proposal, it raises the question of how they will gather the necessary 61 votes to elect the Deputy Speakers.

The debate continues as the political deadlock over the formation of the Assembly persists, with Vetëvendosje insisting on their constitutional right to propose the Speaker.
