Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the launch of a new military operation against Israel, targeting the strategic airbases of Tel Nof and Nevatim.
The operation, named “Nasr,” was carried out in response to Israeli strikes on radar sites inside Iran, according to Tehran.
The IRGC statement said all combat and operational units were placed on full combat readiness and prepared to conduct “large-scale preemptive operations on all fronts” in response to potential Israeli actions.
“With faith in the Almighty God… the brave fighters of the IRGC Air Force launched Operation Nasr with the sacred code phrase ‘O Haidar al-Karrar,’ dedicating it to the martyrs of the 12-day war. The operation targets important facilities at the strategic airbases of Tel Nof and Nevatim,” the statement said.
At the same time, the Israeli military confirmed that Iran had launched a second wave of missiles toward Israeli territory, triggering air raid sirens across the country. The strikes followed Israeli attacks on Iran, during which powerful explosions were reported in Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan.
The escalation comes amid reports that U.S. President Donald Trump urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a phone call to delay retaliation in order to preserve diplomatic efforts.
According to U.S. officials, Trump warned of the risk of further escalation and expressed belief that a deal with Iran was close. However, Netanyahu reportedly ignored the request, and Israel carried out its response only hours after the Iranian strike.
The situation has also sparked political criticism in the United States, with Senator Chris Murphy describing the developments as a “humiliation for Trump and American power,” arguing that Netanyahu acted too quickly against Washington’s wishes.
