The Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) confirmed its participation in the 49th UEFA Congress held in Belgrade, where Kosovo was represented with its state symbols, in line with its status as an equal member of UEFA and FIFA.

FFK stated that while certain individuals may have removed the Kosovo flag from the table after the meeting, this occurred after FFK President Agim Ademi had already left the room. The federation emphasized that Kosovo was officially represented with its state symbols, just like any other UEFA member, and this action did not change the fact that Kosovo remains an equal member of the organization.

Regarding claims of flag removal during the congress, FFK stated, “Kosovo was officially represented with its state symbols, just as every other member of UEFA. Any possible actions after the meeting, when FFK President Ademi was no longer in the room, do not change the fact that Kosovo is and remains a part of this organization.”

FFK also confirmed that Kosovo’s flag was burned by fans in Belgrade, an incident that prompted FFK to announce a protest note to UEFA. “Certain individuals continue to follow agendas against Kosovo, even removing or burning our flag (as happened last night in Belgrade by Serbian club fans). However, Kosovo as a state is and remains an irreversible reality,” the statement said.

FFK vowed to immediately submit a protest note to UEFA and other international institutions, addressing actions that go against the values promoted by UEFA.

At the UEFA Congress, Kosovo’s delegation was led by President Agim Ademi and Markus Weidner, the acting General Secretary.

Meanwhile, the Kosovo national football team has risen by two spots in the latest FIFA rankings, after two wins over Iceland, now ranked 97th in the world with 1,238 points, up from 99th.
