While the Kremlin held its traditional Victory Day parade, the foreign ministers of the European Union gathered in Lviv, Ukraine, where they reaffirmed continued support for Kyiv and approved the establishment of a tribunal to prosecute Russian leaders for aggression against Ukraine, reports Rks News.

“We are celebrating Europe Day together, while a parade takes place in the Kremlin. And Putin he may consider himself a so-called victor, but he has no right to monopolize victory,” said Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

The meeting, which included representatives from EU member states, candidate countries, and the United Kingdom, sent a clear message of solidarity in the face of Russian aggression.

According to AFP, the EU pledged to provide Ukraine with €1 billion, sourced from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets, to support the Ukrainian arms industry.

Furthermore, Western allies approved the creation of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian leaders for “the crime of aggression against Ukraine.”

“We welcome the conclusion of technical work on the legal instruments needed to establish, within the framework of the Council of Europe, a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine,” stated a joint declaration published by Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
