Yesterday, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, expressed her willingness to meet with political party leaders to resolve the ongoing political crisis.
Commenting on this, Professor Kadri Kryeziu stated that it is her constitutional duty.
“It is her duty, she has the constitutional rights and authority, she represents Kosovo and has the duty to invite and meet with party leaders, not to decide who should form the government,” said Kryeziu.
Kryeziu further emphasized that President Osmani has the right to ask political parties why the government has not yet been formed and to inquire about the ongoing delay, as she represents the country.
“She has the right to ask the parties why the formation of the government is still not happening, and if she can find out what the problem is. We have those 48 hours, and there are regulations in place, but this can only happen twice because it seems to be getting abused,” said Kryeziu in an interview on Teve1.
He also highlighted a specific article of the Constitution where the President has the right to approach the Constitutional Court in case the government is not formed.
“There is Article 113, paragraph 3, subparagraph 5, where the President can make a request to the Constitutional Court to see how she can help Kosovo get out of this situation,” Kryeziu concluded.
