Croatian authorities have uncovered a mass grave containing the remains of at least 29 victims in the Oporovečki Vinogradi area of Dubrava, Zagreb.
According to the Croatian Ministry of Veterans, the victims are believed to have been executed in the aftermath of World War II. All exhumed bodies reportedly showed signs of being bound with wire, as well as gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were men between 30 and 40 years old. Authorities have launched anthropological procedures to identify the remains and clarify the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The ministry described the discovery as further evidence of hidden burial sites dating back to the postwar period, emphasizing that investigations will continue in a professional and humanitarian manner.
Official data shows that over the past decade, 17 mass graves have been discovered in Zagreb, with more than 525 victims exhumed.
