Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has officially appointed 20 judges with initial mandates, following a proposal from the Kosovo Judicial Council. The newly appointed judges include 12 women and 8 men, marking a significant step towards ensuring gender balance in the judiciary.
The judges took an oath of office in a ceremony held before President Osmani, where they pledged to uphold the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Kosovo. They committed to respecting professional ethics and performing their duties with integrity, professionalism, and impartiality.
President Osmani emphasized that the success of the state and the establishment of a democratic society are only possible through an independent and functional judiciary. She highlighted that the integrity and professionalism of the judiciary are essential for ensuring equality before the law and building public trust in the justice system.
“Building a successful and democratic state is only possible through an independent and functional justice system. The integrity and professionalism of judges are key pillars in ensuring equality before the law and strengthening the trust of citizens in justice institutions,” President Osmani stated.
