The Kosovo Police (KP) announced this evening that the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes is investigating a targeted death threat against Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
The threat was disseminated across social media platforms via a profile associated with “Severna Brigada” (Northern Brigade), an organization officially designated as a terrorist entity by the Republic of Kosovo.
Investigation and Findings
Following the detection of the threat, the Kosovo Police, in coordination with the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (PSRK) and the Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes, launched an intensive investigation.
Key details from the preliminary investigation include:
- Source Platform: The threat was published through a specific Facebook account under the handle “severna.brigada.2025.”
- Geographical Origin: Technical tracking indicates that the post originated from the territory of the Republic of Serbia, specifically from the city of Kraljevo.
- Identified Data: Investigators have successfully identified the IP address and personal data used during the registration of the account.
Ongoing Security Measures
The Kosovo Police confirmed that they have secured additional data that will assist in the full clarification of the case. While Prime Minister Kurti has been the target of various political tensions, a direct threat from a designated terrorist group originating from a neighboring territory has prompted heightened security protocols.
“Based on the data provided, the post was made from the territory of the Republic of Serbia, specifically from the city of Kraljevo. Competent units have identified additional data that will aid in the further intensive investigation,” the police statement concluded.
The Special Prosecution is currently analyzing the digital evidence to determine the exact individuals behind the profile and to assess the immediate risk level to the Prime Minister.
