The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, today commemorated the 25th anniversary of the massacre in the Kovac neighborhood of Mitrovica, where on April 14, 1999, Serbian paramilitary forces brutally killed 31 Albanian civilians.

In the statement from the Office of the President, it is emphasized that these civilians were “killed solely because they were Albanian. They were massacred in their homes and streets, in their neighborhood—where they were supposed to feel safe.”

President Osmani stressed that justice for them remains a continuous goal.

“These men, women, and children will always be remembered. Remembering them is a moral duty and a commitment to truth and justice. Such crimes are never forgotten, and justice for them remains our ongoing goal,” she stated.
