Burim Ramadani, a senior official from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), has reacted to remarks made by Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Snežana Paunović, who stated during a television interview that, had she been in the position of former Serbian leader Slobodan Milošević, she would have “ethnically cleansed Kosovo.”
Ramadani said the statement demonstrates that Serbia has not changed and argued that the political concept known as the “Serbian World” remains a threat to regional stability and security.
“Serbia has not changed. The statement by its minister proves that the ‘Serbian World’ platform is a threat to stability and security in the Balkans,” Ramadani wrote.
He further accused the Serbian government of pursuing policies aimed at destabilizing the region.
“The Serbian regime continues to invest in destabilizing the entire region. Clearly, Kosovo remains both their target and their greatest concern,” he said.
Concluding his statement, Ramadani stressed that Serbia would never again be able to undermine Kosovo’s determination to defend its sovereignty and freedom.
“Never again! Serbia will never be able to crush the defensive pride of the people of Kosovo.”
Paunović’s remarks have prompted strong political reactions in Kosovo, while the European Union has stated that such rhetoric has no place in Europe and called on Serbian leaders to refrain from inflammatory statements.
