The Ilsky oil refinery in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region caught fire following a drone attack, while authorities in the city of Taganrog evacuated residents after a separate strike.

According to preliminary reports, no injuries were reported. Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russia’s energy facilities and other critical infrastructure in recent months in an effort to disrupt Moscow’s war effort.

The Ilsky refinery, which has a processing capacity of approximately 138,000 barrels per day, has been targeted several times in the past. Previous attacks on Russian oil refineries have contributed to fuel shortages, long queues at gas stations, and higher fuel prices across parts of the country.

“In Russia’s Rostov region, firefighting efforts are underway at two fuel storage facilities and at the seaport of Taganrog,” Governor Yury Slyusar wrote on Telegram.

Taganrog Mayor Svetlana Kambulova said on the messaging platform Max that authorities evacuated residents from affected areas. She added that one private home was damaged and the roof of an administrative building caught fire.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 376 Ukrainian drones overnight.
