Jetlum Bunjaku and Sokol Zymeri, the sons of fallen police heroes Afrim Bunjaku and Enver Zymeri, have graduated as part of the 63rd generation of the Kosovo Police during a ceremony held today.
Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed on September 24, 2023, in the early hours of the morning during the terrorist attack in Banjska. He was part of the police team responding to a roadblock at the entrance to the village, where two trucks had been used to block the road. The police officers were attacked with heavy weapons by the group led by Milan Radoičić, and Bunjaku was killed at the scene.
Police officer Enver Zymeri was also killed in northern Kosovo. He was seriously wounded on July 25, 2011, during a Kosovo Police Special Unit operation to take control of the border crossings at Jarinje and Brnjak. He died the following day from his injuries after the police convoy came under attack in the Zubin Potok area.
Both Afrim Bunjaku and Enver Zymeri have been declared national heroes of Kosovo.
