Ilija Srdanović, the leading candidate on Serbia’s student-backed Students’ List, has urged citizens to remain calm and refrain from violence until the electoral process is completed.

In a message published on social media on October 26, Srdanović called on supporters to maintain the peaceful and dignified conduct he said they had demonstrated so far.

“The elections are not over yet. The results have not been officially announced. We must remain dignified until the end. Do not resort to any form of violence. Your Students’ List and your student movement are asking you to do this. Long live Serbia,” Srdanović said.

His appeal came amid tensions in Belgrade following reports that a group of citizens had entered the premises of television broadcaster Informer, interrupting its programming before leaving the building.

According to Danas, clashes subsequently broke out between people gathered outside and the police.

The newspaper also reported that citizens had assembled outside the headquarters of television broadcaster Pink, where a police cordon was deployed.

Students Distance Themselves From Media Building Incidents

Students in Blockade said they did not support intrusions into media outlets or state institutions and were not calling for such actions.

They also urged citizens who had gathered in Belgrade to celebrate the reported election victory at Slavija Square to disperse peacefully after the evening’s celebrations.

The statements came as the electoral process remained formally incomplete, with official results yet to be announced, according to Srdanović.

The Students’ List leadership’s appeal emphasized the importance of avoiding violence and allowing the process to conclude amid heightened political tensions.
