The Kosovo Police have arrested two individuals suspected of committing war crimes against the civilian population during the war in Kosovo.
According to Sinjali, the suspects are Momir Jakšić (80) and Miljko Biševac (65).
According to investigations by the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes, the case is linked to the tragic events of April 19, 1999, when a group of unarmed Albanian civilians traveling toward Montenegro were stopped in the area known as Kalludra e Vogël, in the municipality of Zubin Potok.
It is suspected that the civilians were initially robbed, with their money and valuables taken from them, after which 23 of them were executed, while their bodies were buried at a location near the river in Kalludra e Vogël.
It has been reported that on July 27, 2026, investigators from the Sector for the Investigation of Missing Persons from the War located the site where the mass grave is suspected to be located. During field examinations, human remains were discovered, including parts of skulls and other skeletal fragments, as well as pieces of clothing believed to belong to the victims.
Based on the evidence collected and testimonies obtained during the investigation, authorities identified Momir Jakšić, a former member of the Territorial Defense, and Miljko Biševac, former commander of the Territorial Defense of the Municipality of Zubin Potok, as suspects who allegedly participated in the detention, robbery, killing, and burial of 23 unarmed Albanian civilians.
Currently, the location is under the protection of the Rapid Reaction Unit, while, in coordination with the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo and the Institute of Forensic Medicine, further excavations and forensic examinations are expected to be carried out.
By order of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, Momir Jakšić and Miljko Biševac have been detained for 48 hours on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “War Crimes Against the Civilian Population.” The investigation into the case is ongoing.
