U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Hamas, demanding the immediate return of the bodies of hostages, or else, he warned, other countries involved in the Middle East peace deal will take action.
In a statement posted online, Trump emphasized the importance of preserving peace in the Middle East, expressing confidence that such peace could be “sustainable.” However, he stressed that maintaining this peace depends on Hamas returning the bodies of the hostages, including two American citizens.
“Hamas must start returning the bodies quickly,” Trump said, acknowledging that some may be difficult to recover. “However, others can be returned now — and for some reason, they are not.”
He suggested that the delay might be connected to Hamas members’ disarmament, noting that the peace agreement requires “full compliance by both sides.”
“Let’s see what they do in the next 48 hours,” the president concluded, adding that he is closely monitoring the situation.
