UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has criticized Israeli authorities for barring two Labour MPs from entering the country and detaining them.

He described the move as “unacceptable, counterproductive, and deeply concerning,” adding that the Foreign Office had been in contact with both MPs to offer support.

Israeli authorities stated that the two MPs were denied entry because they allegedly intended to spread “hate rhetoric” against Israel.

Meanwhile, Lammy said: “I have made it clear to my counterparts in the Israeli government that this is not the way to treat British parliamentarians.”
