Around 35,000 migrants have entered the UK via small boats across the English Channel in 2024, marking a 20% increase compared to the previous year. This surge follows 160 people crossing from France on Saturday alone, pushing the total number of arrivals to 35,040, surpassing last year’s total of 29,437 by October 25.
The UK Home Office reported that nearly 13,460 migrants have left the country since the Labour Party’s victory in July, noting that this is the largest exodus in the past five years during any six-month period. The rise in migration has sparked significant debate, with the government focusing on tackling the issue amid ongoing challenges regarding border control and immigration policies.
