Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that he met with William Ruto, the president of Kenya, a country that recognized Kosovo’s independence about a year ago.
Vucic stated that the two leaders discussed “general bilateral and economic relations between Serbia and Kenya.”
“This important global summit is also an exceptional opportunity to exchange views on the shared challenges of urbanization, infrastructure, and economic development, which are key topics for both Serbia and Kenya,” he wrote on Facebook after their meeting at the 13th World Urban Forum in Baku.
Vučić also spoke about the “common ground” between Serbia and Kenya.
“Our two peoples are connected by a long tradition of friendship dating back to the era of the Non-Aligned Movement, but our shared goal is to transform these historical ties into modern and concrete economic cooperation. Kenya is developing rapidly, while Serbia, with its major infrastructure projects, urban modernization, and the approaching EXPO 2027, has much to offer,” he wrote.
Vučić added that he invited the Kenyan president to visit Serbia.
